General Tips for Your First Training:
Be Prepared: Wear comfortable clothes (usually athletic wear) and supportive shoes (sneakers). Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
Stay Positive and Open: Cheerleading is a team sport, so support each other and stay positive. It’s okay to make mistakes—you’re there to learn and improve!
Pay Attention to Safety: Some stunts can be tricky, so always follow your coach’s instructions carefully. If something feels off or unsafe, speak up.
What to Expect?
-
What to Expect: When you arrive, you’ll check in with the coach or the person overseeing the practice. This is usually where you'll sign in, get any required gear or uniform details, and maybe even receive a brief introduction to the team or program.
Tip: Arrive early to get settled and be ready to start on time!
-
What to Expect:
Cheerleading requires strength, especially in your legs, core, and upper body. We have our own strength and conditioning program that we have designed to get your blood flowing, and dynamic stretches to loosen your muscles, build strength and prevent injuries.Tip: Focus on form, not just speed. This will pay off in the long run!
Tip: Stretch and listen carefully to avoid injury.
-
What to Expect: As you trial with the team, you'll start by learning the basic stunts and moves essential for cheerleading. This may include basic jumps (like toe touches or pikes), arm motions (such as high V, low V, and T motions), and footwork for routines. Depending on the time of year, you may also have the opportunity to learn parts of a routine, following along with the team's progress and development as they work through their current practice plans.
Tip: Don't worry if you don’t pick everything up right away—it's all part of the learning process, and with practice, you'll improve!
-
What to Expect: Following your trial session, you will receive an email with all the details you need about joining the team, including next steps, schedules, and any important information. This will also be the perfect opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the program, training, or expectations. Feel free to reach out—whether it’s about the training or the team, we're here to help and make sure you have all the information you need moving forward!
